What is DSIP and how does it compare to other sleep peptides?

Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring nonapeptide first isolated in the 1970s from rabbit blood during slow-wave sleep research. Unlike sedative sleep medications, DSIP appears to optimize natural sleep rhythms by promoting delta-wave deep sleep rather than inducing sedation. Uniquely among peptides, DSIP can cross the blood-brain barrier and is absorbed from the gut without enzyme degradation. However, DSIP remains an experimental research peptide with limited human trials and no FDA approval, so alternatives like growth hormone secretagogues or natural supplements such as magnesium glycinate and melatonin are more commonly studied options.
